I grew up in Potsdam, near Sanssouci Park, in a family of artists and theater people. Thus, I came into contact with art, culture, and nature early on.
After my apprenticeship as a goldsmith, I studied jewelry design at Burg Giebichenstein University of Art and Design Halle and graduated with a diploma. Today I work as a freelance jewelry artist in Leipzig.
The richness of forms and colors in nature is the starting point for my jewelry work. I pick up on details such as seed pods, calyxes, or surface textures and transform them into independent, organically appearing forms that are collaged together from individual fragments. Using techniques such as lost-wax casting, chasing, and repoussé, as well as the use of plastics, they become sculptural jewelry objects. At the same time, I play with the tension between nature and artificiality. Color creates a distance from the natural template and makes the works consciously artificial. I am fascinated by this oscillation between the familiar and the foreign. In the combination of form and color, I try to make energy and vitality visible and to give the objects an independent, poetic expressive power.
Some of my jewelry is suitable for everyday wear yet individual, while other pieces are developing more in the direction of wearable art. I am interested in jewelry that makes personality visible, creates intimacy, and has its own signature. I create unique pieces, individual commissions, as well as wedding and engagement rings — always with the desire to create something distinctive and meaningful. For me, jewelry should be beautiful, but also touching, accompanying, and show character.
